Beatrice Sherbondy passed peacefully to her heavenly home on September 11, 2016. She was born in Oak Creek, Colorado on July 25, 1916 as was her twin sister, Bernice, to parents Amos Franklin (Jack) and Dagmar Louise Johnson Hagen. Her brother, Thomas was born three years before. The family later moved to Denver due to her father's poor health where her father died of miners consumption when Beatrice was three years old. Her mother never remarried and raised all three children alone. Beatrice graduated from Denver's South High School, and worked in a dress maker's shop after graduation. She met the love of her life, William Everett Sherbondy on a blind date while Everett was a student at the Colorado School of Mines. They married in 1941 after Everetts graduation and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where Everett worked as a chemist. When WWII started they moved to Virginia where Everett was employed with the U.S. Geological Survey (U.S.G.S.) in Washington, D.C. Their first daughter, Nancy was born while in Virginia.After the war, Beatrice and Everett moved back to Lakewood, Colorado where Everett continued employment with the U.S.G.S. Daughters Norma and Nina were born while living in Lakewood, Colorado. Everett retired in 1973 and he and Beatrice moved to Cory, Colorado. They were very active in the United Methodist Church in Delta, Colorado, and Beatrice made beautiful altar cloths for the church. Beatrice and Everett gardened, canned fruits, and Beatrice was active in many local clubs. She was accomplished cook, artist and an avid quilter who made many beautiful quilts. Everett passed away in 2007 and Beatrice then moved in with daughter, Nina and her husband Gene in Lake Jovita near Dade City, Florida where she lived until her death. She sewed many blankets for the charity, For Every Child in Florida and continued her art work.Beatrice reached her goal of living to age 100! She is survived by her daughter Nancy and son-in-law Glynn Turner, daughter Norma and son-in-law Freddie Stroupe, daughter Nina and son-in-law Gene White, grandchildren Lori Williams, Nola Franzoy, Eric Ridgill, Tadd Ridgill, Everett White, Amy Recla and Benjamin White, and 13 great-grandchildren. Beatrice enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren Daniel, William and Abigail Recla who were the light of her life. She also enjoyed visits from Norma and Freddie as well as grandson Eric, his wife Janet and their girls Ellen and Clare.
