IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Ann
Lingo
November 8, 1940 – July 4, 2025
Barbara Ann Lingo, a lifetime resident of Dade City, Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on July 4, 2025.
Barbara was born on November 8, 1940, in Dade City, Florida. Her parents were Robert J. and Ethel F. Lingo. She had one sister, Bonnie Lingo Weishar, married to Lawrence Weishar of Kansas City. Barbara took pride in being a doting aunt to her nephews, Rob Weishar, Tom Weishar, Ed Weishar and her nieces, Cindy Weishar Setter and Nancy Weishar Bahner. She treated her family to fun vacation activities over the years when they visited her from Missouri. Her trips up north to Kansas City during the holiday season were filled with fun and games. Those trips also solidified her hatred of cold weather! She was proud of being a great aunt to Owen Bahner, Lucy Bahner, Cole Setter, Anna Setter, and Holden Weishar. She never forgot a birthday, holiday, or special occasion. Her love for her family was always felt from afar.
Barbara attended Pasco High School. After graduating in 1958, she earned her associate's degree. She then went on to work at Lykes Pasco as an accountant for over forty years. While working at the plant, she made lifelong friends. She often spoke of Sandy Revels, Barbara Corley, Margie Bryant and Joan Rawlinson as they became Barbara's family that she got to choose. They had so many fun times together and supported each other through the hard times. They were known to zip around in her corvette, meet for lunch, travel to far away places, go to the movies, and do some shopping. She enjoyed spending Thanksgiving dinners with her extended family and friends. These were some of her best times.
If you knew Barbara, you knew that she was a voracious reader. She was well known at the Hugh Embrey Library as she visited often with her book list in hand. The staff described themselves as "her people". Barbara was undeniably smart about so many topics. Her love of reading across all genres made her the coveted Trivial Pursuit teammate. Besides reading, Barbara spent her leisure time following all types of sports. She was always ready to talk sports and share all she had learned about the athletes.
Barbara is remembered as kind, supportive, intelligent, and thoughtful. She had a strong belief in her Catholic faith and lived her life accordingly. Barbara's 1958 senior yearbook quote stated, "A manor so quiet, a brain so fine; a better girl is hard to find." This description rings true all these years later. She will be greatly missed.
Barbara is survived by her brother-in-law, Larry Weishar of Kansas City, nephews and nieces, Robert Weishar, Thomas Weishar, Cynthia Setter (Jerry), Nancy Bahner (Ward), and Edward Weishar (Kate), and her great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert Lingo (1974) and Ethel Lingo (2001), and her sister, Bonnie Weishar (2018).
