Obituary

Barbara Lewellen, 80, of Dade City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in her hometown of Dade City, Florida.Barbara was born on October 16, 1945, in Sebring to Theda Mae Braxton and Carlos Ward. She was the eldest of three children and was preceded in death by her brother, Buster Ward, and her sister, Prissy Fort.In 1965, Barbara married the love of her life, Fred Lewellen. They shared many devoted years of marriage until his passing in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Ward Lewellen.Barbara worked for many years at Ray’s Used Cars as a title clerk and customer service representative, where she was known for her dedication and friendly spirit. Outside of work, she loved playing Bingo and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her greatest accomplishments in life were being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara had the sweetest soul and treated everyone with kindness and respect. Whether you had just met her or had known her for years, she had a special way of making people feel loved.She is survived by her children: Glen Lewellen; Jeanette Stephens and husband Ronnie Stephens; and Terrie Miles.Her grandchildren: Michael Jones; Bessie Waser and Ted Kersey; Jeffrey Cunningham and Felice Gonzalez; James Lewellen; Violet Lewellen; David O’Dell; and Christopher Lewellen.Her great-grandchildren: Sean Hutchins, Corey Manson, and Audree and Hailee Mae Waser.She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whom she loved deeply.A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Dade City Cemetery.Family and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Her Life immediately following the service at 14963 Douglas Street. Barbara loved having everyone together for a good meal, and her family welcomes all who wish to honor her memory.
