Barbara (ne Piller) Borges of Oaks Royal III, Zephyrhills, FL left this world on Sunday October 30, 2022, after a brief and valiant battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at home with her husband of 48 years, Richard J. Borges, and beloved dog Max by her side. She was born on October 22, 1941, in Yonkers, NY to John Stephen and Anne Marie (ne Novak) Piller. The family moved to South Salem, NY when she was a teenager. In 1959, she graduated from John Jay High School in Lewisboro, NY. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Business Education from Rider University and her Masters Degree in Special Education from Fairfield University. She taught high school business classes in Fairfield, CT for over 20 years while she excelled as a wife and mother. Barbara selflessly gave up her career and moved to Zephyrhills to care for her widowed mother Anne, where she served as President of the Homeowners Association for Oaks Royal III for many years. Barbara enjoyed gardening, spending time with her husband and dog Max, watching Tampa Bay Bucs games and laughing with friends and family. She was generous of heart and spirit and her laughter lit up the room. She is predeceased by her first husband Raymond E. McIndoe Sr. and her parents. Barbara is survived by her sons Raymond E. (Ana Lucrecia) McIndoe Jr. and John L. (DJ) McIndoe as well as her sister Diane (Anthony) Lazzari. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday November 10, 2022, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 State Road 54, Zephyrhills, FL 33541. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday November 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 38710 5th Avenue, Zephyrhills, FL 33542.
