Babyamma Zachariah, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished member of St. Mary's Malankara Orthodox Church, Wesley Chapel, FL, passed away peacefully at her home on June 26, 2025. She was 77 years old.
Born on November 23, 1947, in Kerala, India, Babyamma was the devoted daughter of Youhanan George and Kunju Kunjamma. She was married to the late Zachariah Mathew of the Amruthu Padinjattethil family, hailing from Perissery, Madathumpadi, Chengannur, Kerala, India. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, love, and family.
In 1999, Babyamma migrated to Boston, United States, embracing a new life with strength and determination. She worked as a cashier helper in the retail industry, where her kindness, humility, and hard work touched the lives of many.
In 2011, she moved to Zephyrhills, Florida, where she spent her later years surrounded by family and her church community.
She was a devoted mother to Biju Zachariah and Bindu Zachariah, and a cherished mother-in-law to Jemsin George and Abu Sam Koruth. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren - Abiya, Abeena, Zaira, and Abel - whose lives she touched deeply with her love, prayers, and gentle guidance.
Babyamma is lovingly remembered by her siblings:
- Omana Koshy and her husband Kurian Koshy (Tampa, Florida)
- Rosamma Mathew and her husband George Mathew (Port St. Lucie, Florida)
- Thomas George and his wife Lisa Thomas (Atlanta, Georgia)
A firm believer in Jesus Christ, Babyamma lived the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church faith, attending St. Mary's Malankara Orthodox Church, Wesley Chapel, FL for over a decade. Her life was marked by prayer, compassion, and quiet strength, reflecting her deep commitment to Christ and the values of her faith.
A Wake and Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11441 US-301, Dade City, FL 33525.
· Viewing: 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM
· Funeral Prayers: 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
· Burial Service: 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM
She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Gardens in Dade City, Florida, while her beloved husband rests in India.
May her soul find eternal peace in Christ, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
