Arthur Leeroy Mackey, 82, of Sun City Center, FL passed away on December 18, 2023, in Sarasota, FL. Arthur was born on March 7, 1941, in Butler, PA to parents, Jesse C. Mackey and Ethel L. Taylor. Arthur grew up with seven siblings Ralph, Esther, Violet, Jessie, Jean, Alice, and Clair. He married his loving wife Carmen (Mitzi) on March 12, 1998, in Dade City, FL. Arthur worked as a superintendent for Kalemeris Construction in Tampa, FL until he retired. He served his country in the Army with an honorable discharge. Arthur enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, driving, and camping. He was quite the handyman and loved to work on house and bridge construction. Arthur is survived by his wife Carmen; siblings Ralph (Dolores) Mackey and Esther Clark; sister-in-law Charlene Tapp; nieces and nephews Teresa (Keith) Steetle, Leonard (Shawna) Clark, Ray Mackey, Leona Mackey, Dixie Harman, Clifedda Ward; grandnephew Daniel Mackey; and several other nieces, nephews, grand, and great grandnephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his siblings Violet Ward, Jessie Mackey, Jean Igou, Alice Lopeno, and Clair Mackey; brother-in-law Leroy Clark; and niece Patricia Martin. A memorial service is being held on January 18, 2024, at 10 am at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Ruskin, FL. The burial will immediately follow at Sarasota National Cemetery at 1 pm.
