Obituary

Arthur Fish, 93 of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away April 2, 2015. He was born May 14, 1921 near Gillingham, Wisconsin, to Lavern Judson Fish and Rena Bell (Endicott) Fish. Arthur was one of ten children growing up on the family dairy farm in Richland County, Wisconsin. Mr. Fish served in the Marines during WWII at Guadalcanal and Tarawa. He worked at Hillsborough River State Park from 1947 to 1959 building many of the limestone picnic tables and assisting in the updating of the swinging bridge as well as serving as lifeguard. While working at the state park he began doing tree work which became Art's Tree Service.He married Betty Lash of Ferndale, Michigan, in 1947 and later married Effie Moore of Zephyrhills in 1996. Mr. Fish enjoyed fishing the lakes of Central Florida and visiting state parks. He was active in the Quarterback Club that supported ZHS athletics and attended ZHS football and baseball games for many years. He was a member of Wesley Chapel Church of the Nazarene. Arthur is survived by one daughter, Mary (Norman) Young of Nashville, Tennessee (ZHS Class of 1966); grandsons Byron (Elizabeth) Young of Huntsville, Alabama, and David Young of Nashville, Tennessee; and sister-in-law Emily Fish of Richland Center, Wisconsin. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty and wife Effie; sisters Letha Davidson, Jessie Fruit, Vera Hammond, Ruth Donaldson, Gertrude Stanley, Isolene Cornell; brothers Eldon Fish, Elgin Fish and Grant Fish. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 6th at 2:00 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 State Route 54, Zephyrhills with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00.
