Arden Fay Cox (1936-2024)
Sargent (T) (E5)
He was born in Niles, Michigan, in 1936 to Eunice and Miller Cox, who were both hard workers. His father was a farmer and his mother was a gardener. Arden was born and raised on the farm he called home. Where he grew up with his one brother and sister. At the age of 5 years old, he would take care of the farm animals with his dad. His mother would teach him about all the different types of plants and their special qualities. As he grew older, he went on to middle and high school as he worked at the gas station with his dad. He was no stranger to hard work and always felt a sense of duty.
At the young age of 17 he enlisted to join the Army and fought in the Vietnam War as a Para Tropper. He worked in the army and took pride in fighting for his country. During the time he served, he was awarded the Parachutist Badge Good Conduct Medal. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the job, he endured several injuries and was not able to re-enlist after completing his 5 years. He came home and became a very successful businessman and entrepreneur. Arden embarked in several business ventures including goods distribution, cross country truck driving and real estate.
He often would talk about his memories where he would drive all over the United States even Mexico— a truck driver who never stopped working. Arden was a snow bird and lived in Florida for 6 months out of the year when the winter would take place in Michigan. At the villages in Florida, he met the love of his life, Ivelisse Cox. There love story is a beautiful one. Both have been previously married and their wife and husband deceased. They found laughter, joy and companionship in one another. They re-married in Niles Michigan and 8/15/24, 7:44 PM Page 1 of 3 spent several years there enjoying activities such as attending church service and working out on the yard.
Arden was beloved amongst his grandchildren and often would play card games with the yougest grandchild Eythan. He would laugh at how just a 7 year old boy beat him at the card games. This brought him alot of joy. He was a family man and wanted to retire in Florida to be close to his family.
Arden will always be remembered for his sense of humor and strong work ethic. He was a true gentleman who always paid his debts and loved his country. We will recall his common phrases "It is what it is" and "I would be darn". We will always carry him in our hearts.
Arden Fay Cox at the age of 88 in Zephyrhills Florida, passed away peacefully in his bedroom from old age on July 18th just five days after his birthday. May he rest in peace.
