Obituary

Archie C Sherrill Jr., of Tampa and Plant City, Florida passed peacefully with family by his side on September 8, 2021. He was born in Cornelius, North Carolina on July 6, 1931 TO Archie and Pauline Sherrill. At the age of 4 years, his father was killed in a railway accident leading to a difficult upbringing for him and his three brothers; Charles, Jonathan and Richard who have all predeceased him. He served four years with the U.S Air Force during the Korean War. On May 8, 1954 he married Edith Delaney and then moved to Florida. They had three children, Helen Lefevre, Katherine Sherrill- Hager, and Sarah Sherrill. He worked for the Tampa Police Department prior to his employment with CSX Railroad as a special agent. After retirement, he grew grapes and citrus on his Plant City property. Also, during retirement, he cared for his dear Edith in their home after her debilitating stroke. He is now rejoined with her in eternal happiness. He had recently celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends prior to a diagnosis of brain cancer. In addition to his children, he is survived by three grandchildren: Amiee, Nancy and Rachel; three great grandchildren: Patricia Sue, Lyndsey Grace and David John, Jr. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be held September 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City.
