Antoinette Midili, 96, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on the evening of October 7, 2021. She was born in Waterford New Jersey on August 12, 1925, to Italian immigrant parents. Her family moved to San Antonio when she was six months old. She graduated from St. Anthony Catholic School in 1939 before attending Holy Name Academy in St. Leo. After a few years working as the parish secretary at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in downtown Tampa, she moved on to a career in the banking industry that would span 42 years. She spent 11 years at the International Bank of Tampa and 31 years at First National Bank of Florida, retiring as a bank officer.
She returned to San Antonio to live on the family homestead.-She enjoyed gardening and hosted countless Midili-family gatherings over the years. A devout Catholic, she attended daily Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and served on the board of that parish's Catholic Women's Club. She was also a longtime member of the parish Bereavement Committee. Antoinette was a 2015 recipient of the St. Jude Medal, given by the Diocese of St. Petersburg for distinguished parish service. She also enjoyed many years in the Leading Ladies social club.
She is survived by two siblings, Paul Midili of San Antonio and Angela Sweeney of Brandon; as well as 20 nephews and nieces, 39 grand nephews and nieces, and 40 great-grand nephews and nieces; including members of the Midili, Sakellaris, Smith, and Plazewski families locally, and the DePalma and Mideli families of New Jersey and Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents Giuseppe and Angela Midili, and by two brothers, Salvatore and Sostine, and three sisters, Rosella DePalma, Jennie Sakellaris, and Mary Plazewski.
