Obituary

Anthony Joseph Drago, 92 of Wesley Chapel, FL passed away on May 20, 2023, at home. He was born on August 1, 1930, to Vincent and Angelina Drago in Brooklyn, New York, the first of four sons. In 1953, Anthony married Mabel Alice Mattson, in Brooklyn, NY and they had three children: Angela, Vincent and Barbara. In l968, they moved to Howell, New Jersey and then in 1978, moved again to Wesley Chapel, FL. Anthony was an independent long-distance truck driver and retired from trucking in his late 70s. Anthony is survived by his children, Angela Drago and Vincent P. Drago; two grandchildren, Jennifer Brady-Caruana and Terrance A. Drago; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; Vincent Michael Drago (Geraldine) and Stephen Drago (Geraldine); and his brothers-in-law, Raymond Mattson (Mona) and Peter E. Mattson (Joan), along with many nieces and nephews. Anthony is predeceased by his beloved wife, Mabel Alice; youngest daughter, Barbara; and younger brother, Louis Drago (Rita, deceased). The family will receive family and friends on Friday, May 26, 2023 between 11 AM and 12 PM at Hodges Family Funeral Home, located at 11441 US Hwy 301, Dade City, Florida, with entombment thereafter at the Serenity Mausoleum at Chapel Hill Gardens in Dade City. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be gifted to Gulfside Healthcare Services or the American Cancer Society.
