IN MEMORY OF ANNE WANJA GATHEGI (July 17, 1956 - October 6, 2022) Anne Wanja Gathegi, 66, of Wesley Chapel FL transitioned into God's heavenly kingdom on October 6, 2022 surrounded by family, at the Advent hospital after a brief illness. Beloved wife of 45 years to Professor John Gathegi and loving mother to Nathan, Edi (and Adriana), and Beti Gathegi. Anne was born in Thika, Kenya, and is the daughter to the late Elijah Mue Kariuki & the late Rebeccah Nyambura. She completed her high school education at Equator Girls High School before her employment as a sales person at Kimathi Emporium and later as a teacher at St Annes School. Anne met her husband John and they got married on New Year's Day in 1977 and they were blessed with three children. They relocated to SanFrancisco, CA, shortly thereafter where they lived for many years before moving to Florida. While in CA, Anne was an active member of the Kenya Christian Fellowship in America (KCFA). She received an AA for early childhood development from Peralta Community College and would go on to earn a bachelor's degree in social work from UC Berkeley. She spent most of her career as a teacher and mentor before her retirement in 2020. Anne was a dedicated wife, mother, sister and friend and was deeply loved and cherished by those who knew her. She is remembered for her deep faith in Christ, for her selfless caring nature and for always encouraging and praying for others. Anne is survived by her twin Joseph Kariuki (and Matilda), siblings Stephen Kamau (and Rachel), Beth Njoki, Esther Wanjiku, Rosemary Mue, Njonjo Mue and Nancy Mue and her In-laws Anne Muthoni Wanjohi, Simon Kimari Mburu,and Benson Kibari Mburu. She is predeceased by her siblings Grace Nzisa, David Mwaura and Hannah Muthoni Gathua (w/o John G. Njoroge). Anne will be dearly missed by her family, friends, nieces and nephews. We take solace in knowing that hers was a life well lived and that she now rests in Gods loving arms. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on October 14, 2022 at the Hodges Family funeral home located at 11441 US Highway 301, Dade City FL. A celebration of life gathering will also be held in San Francisco on Oct 22, 2022.
