Following a long illness Anita Monette English, 83, resident of Zephyrhills, FL went to be with her Savior and Lord on (Day and date of death) at Gulfside Hospice, Zephyrhills, FL. The daughter of Glenn, Drake, Sr. and Sweet Marie (Spradley), who have preceded her, was born in Gracemont, OK on 9/13/1931. She was the youngest of two children. She has an older brother. Anita graduated from Gracemont High School and attended junior college in Carnegie, OK. Shortly thereafter she married her sweetheart, Philip Ray English, Sr. on 12/22/50 at Witchita Falls, TX and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. As a child she picked cotton in the fields of Oklahoma. She traveled to many places because of her husband's Air Force enlistment. She is known most for her amazing sewing skills, but she also quilted, crocheted, played piano, and enjoyed wood working. She partnered with her husband in their charter boat business out of Bowers Beach, DE. In her last years her passion was getting together every Monday at First Baptist Church of Dade City with a special group of ladies known as "Journey of the Heart" sewing backpacks and totes to give to boys and girls who were hospitalized because of cancer. Survivers include her Husband in Zephyrhills, FL; her children, Ranita Ann Voellm and her husband Eric Voellm of Coxsackie, NY; Klota Jo Funds and her husband Steve Funds of Clermont, FL; Philip Ray English, Jr. and his wife Terri English of Papillion, NB; Doc Watson and his wife Deborah Watson of Crest View, FL; her grandchildren, Jennifer Renee Grabiec and her husband Adam Grabiec of Charlotte, NC; Daryl Steven Funds and his wife Rebecca Jolie Hayes of Lakeland, FL; Nicholas James Voellm of Ravena, NY; Nathaniel Mark Voellm of Berkeley, CA; Patrick Killian, Brigid Aidan and Peggy Sue English of Papillion, NB; and Derek Watson of Crest View, FL; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Anitas family will receive friends on Friday, Jan 30, 2015 from 11 am until 12 pm at the Hwy 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm also at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Brooks, officiating. Anita will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery.
