Audrey Rothblatt Chenkin was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on June 17, 1925. She grew up in St Petersburg Florida and was a graduate of St. Pete High. After moving to Zephyrhills, Florida in 1954, she became active in many civic organizations and creative endeavors. She was a member of the PTA, advocating for children and education and forming friendships that, 40 years later, resulted in the formation of a group known as "The Golden Girls", where they continued to help children in need.She enjoyed a 30 year career at Freedom Savings & Loan Association was a member of ABWA and was a Life Member of Hadassah. She traveled, had many hobbies and became a published poet at the age of 70. She was a member of the New River Poets Association, the Florida State Poets Association, Florida Scribes and SPHS Class of 42 Alumni Association. Audrey moved to Jacksonville because of declining health, but continued to enjoy life to its fullest. She is predeceased by her parents, David and Ethel Rothblatt, sisters Toby Snyder and Bernice Katz, and husband Gilbert Chenkin. Survivors include two children, Helen Chenkin Hill (John), and Richard Chenkin (Paula), six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 1st, at Oakside Cemetery, in Zephyrhills.
