Ana Roman Pettis, 76, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in Largo, Florida.
Ana's story began on July 28, 1950, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where she was born to Candida Reyes and Vincente Campos Roman. She grew up alongside her brothers and sisters and graduated from Hillsborough High School in Tampa. On April 14, 1972, she married Robert Pettis in Tampa, and the two built a life and a family together. She worked for Bank of America until her retirement.
Ana was kind, amazingly sweet, and strong, and she had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, like they had always belonged. She loved life and she loved people, with a real passion for making good in the world.
Most of all, her heart belonged to her family. She loved them fiercely, took care of them, and always put others before herself. She never tired of hearing how her grandchildren were doing, and as far as she was concerned, every one of them was perfect.
Ana loved to travel and explore historic places. At home, you might find her bent over a jigsaw puzzle, watching her birds, or playing her lucky lottery numbers. But she was our lucky number all along.
A truly kind spirit and an earth angel, Ana left us far too soon. Her warmth lives on in everyone she loved, and she will be missed more than words can say.
Ana leaves behind her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert Pettis; her eldest son, Robert Edward Pettis, and his wife, Christina; her youngest son, Shaun David Pettis, and his wife, Heather; her cherished grandchildren, Robert Michael, Gabriel James, and Lincoln Emmitt; and her siblings, Lydia, Hector, Laura, and Vincent. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Candida and Vincente.
Family and friends are invited to gather in Ana's memory on Monday, November 9, 2026, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 CR 54, Zephyrhills, Florida 33541. A public viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by a service at 1:00 p.m.
The family is grateful for all the love and kind words shared in Ana’s memory.
