Amanda Elaine Hughes, 75 of Zephyrhills, FL, formerly of Rock Falls, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Mandy was born in Meadowbrook, IL to Steven and Daisy Pence on August 19, 1944. She married Thomas Richard Hughes in Rock Falls, IL on November 2, 1973. They were married 42 years prior to his passing in 2016. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her friends and family. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, cross stitching and being involved with her TOPS club and church group as often as she was able. She could also be found cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and her favorite Florida sports teams of the Bucs, Gators and Tampa Bay Lightning.

She is preceded in death by her husband, both her parents, 1 brother(Steven Pence), 1 sister (Elizabeth Ward), 2 sons (Jerry Joe Samuels and Donald "Scott" Shuman) and her grandson Jorden Samuels.

She is survived by 4 brothers, Lloyd (Pat) Pence of Chicago, IL, Gale (Becky) Pence of Rock Falls, IL, Dewey (Lois) Pence of Davenport, IA, and Edward (Tammy) Pence of Engham, IL. She is also survived by her children - Derek Samuels of Clarence, Iowa, Dawnita (Marc) Schaefer of Erie, IL, Melinda (Thomas) Cosenza of Wesley Chapel, FL, Mary Beth Hughes of Peoria, IL, Laura (Larry) Gilmore of Peoria, IL, J David (Jennifer) Hughes of Quincy, FL, and Tracey LaForge of Peoria, IL. She also had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, in laws, nieces and nephews that will miss her greatly.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18th, 2019 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home located at 36327 US Hwy 54 in Zephyrhills, FL.

Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 19th, 2019 at 10:30 am at Hodges Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
