Alven LaVoid Chitty, 82, of Dade City, Florida passed on Friday, February 10, 2023. He was born on April 18, 1940, in Ray City, Georgia to L.C. "Red" Chitty & Ava Lou Chitty. He was one of 4 children; his siblings are Robert Chitty, Janis Sue Crews (Eddie), and Donald R Chitty. He moved to Dade City, Florida at a young age and graduated from Pasco Highs Class of 1958. He served in the United States Air Force where he met and married the love of his life in Utica, New York eventually settling to raise their family in Highland Springs, Virginia. Al began his career working in the heavy equipment and auto industry serving in multiple Union Leadership roles. He pivoted to the construction industry becoming a bricklayer and master stone mason. He later became a Construction Manager retiring from Sydnor Hydrodynamics in Richmond, VA. He was involved in youth baseball for over 30 years and served as Senior Little League Virginia State Commissioner. Al and Louise returned to Florida to spend their retirement years. He enjoyed watching his beloved Tampa Bay Rays and Camping. He especially loved to out-fish his best friend and brother-in-law, Eddie Crews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 yrs: Louise Geruntino Chitty; parents: L.C. "Red" & Ava Lou Chitty; and brother: Robert Chitty. Al is survived by his children: Renee Elliott (Rick) of Mechanicsville, VA., Michael Chitty (Dyan) of Dade City, FL., Marc Chitty (Donna) of Highland Springs, VA; Grandchildren: WJ Hamilton (Kimberly) Timothy Chitty (Amanda) Laura Chitty, and Kelsey James all of Mechanicsville, VA, Chelsea Chitty of Tallahassee, FL, Casey Chitty of Los Angeles, CA; Along with 9 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida.
