Alton Southern 82 , of Dade City passed away Saturday, January 2nd, 2016. He was born December 18, 1933 in Etowah County, AL to Grady T. & Eva Louise Simmons Southern. Alton worked as a shipyard mechanic at the dry docks and then went to work for the public school system. He was a quiet, country gentleman who served with the National Guard and was an active member of Life's Harbor Church in Dade City. He is survived by his wife: Linda Southern; 3 children: Randy Southern, Judy Southern Wheatley, Denise Southern Beggs; 1 brother: Clyde Southern; 6 grandchildren: Ashely, Wade, Justin, Tommy, Lacy, Brandon; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Grady & Eva Southern. Funeral Services will be held 10am Saturday, January 9th, 2016 at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Floral Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends for viewing from 6-8pm Friday evening at the funeral home on 5th Street. Visitation
