BACKES, Larry Albert age 72, passed away at his home into the loving arms of God on December 17, 2014. Mr. Backes was born on December 31, 1941, and is survived by his wife Donna (Knowles) Backes, his daughter, Lisa (Bruce) Daniels, and three grandsons, Logan, Garrett, and Mason Daniels all of Midland Michigan. Other survivors include his siblings sister Denise (Stan) Maczka of Sun City West Arizona, brother Doug (Sue) Backes of Hanover Michigan, sister Barbara (Charlie) Gurtner of Horton Michigan, sister Annetta Rappa of Edwards CO, sister Linda Basydlo (Kirk Morley) of Santa Barbara, CA, brother Gary (Stacy) Backes of Reading MI, and sister-in-law Kay Wright of Coldwater Michigan, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Backes worked all of his adult life in the automotive industry in paint and auto body repair. He was the owner and operator of TEMPLE AUTO SALES in Zephyrhills for twenty four years. He held a current membership in the Moose Lodge, and was a past member of the BPOE. His favorite activities included spending time with his wife and family, golfing, grilling, and traveling. There will be no funeral or memorial service at this time. Mr. Backes donated his remains for medical research. Memorials may be made in his name to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, 12902 USF Magnolia Drive, Tampa, Florida 33612 and HPH Hospice, 37445 Clinton Avenue, Dade City, Florida 33525. The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Richard Kim and the entire GI department at H. Lee Moffitt for their kindness and support during Larrys battle with Cancer. Mrs. Backes also wishes to convey a special acknowledgement of gratitude to Dr. Benjamin Biebel and staff at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in the IR department. Larrys faith in Dr. Biebel as a physician and friend was epic and well deserved resulting in months of life Larry may not have had otherwise.
