Hodges Family Funeral Home  is family owned and operated with the owners living in Dade City.  We are dedicated to the goal of treating our families just as we wish to be treated, with dignity, integrity, respect and personal care.  We value friendships and are committed to providing the highest quality care for the most reasonable prices.  Please come and visit our historic building in Dade City.  Although it’s listed on the Historical Registry of Dade City, our facilities are modern and spacious, with the Chapel seating over 200 comfortably.  Our Zephyrhills Chapel is conveniently located in Downtown Zephyrhills. Our other two chapels are in Dade City and Zephyrhills and are the former Oakley Funeral Homes.  The Dade City 301 chapel is located alongside Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery which is also owned by the Hodges Family.  The Zephyrhills chapel is located on West 54 to serve the Wesley Chapel and New Tampa area. Michael Hodges is a licensed funeral director and embalmer.  He and his wife, Carolyn, live in Dade City.  Michael and Carolyn have four children, Rachel, Desiree, Courtney, and Michael.  A Texas native, Michael was a medic in the Air Force during Vietnam and continued in the medical profession after his honorable discharge in 1974.  He was the Technical Director of Anesthesiology Research for the University of Utah, Ohio State University and the University of South Florida.  He established Hodges Family Funeral Home in 1999 in its present location, at the corner of Church & Fifth Street in Dade City.  Our business number in Dade City is 352-567-0000, Zephyrhills 813-788-6100, which is answered day and night by a funeral director, as we believe that families need to speak to a caring individual, not an answering service.  Michael is a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church; Florida Funeral Director’s Association; Former Member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer, Habitat for Humanity 2000-2004;  Dade City Rotary Club, Rotary Club Treasurer, 2000-2002; Chamber of Commerce, Dade City; Chamber of Commerce, Zephyrhills; Chamber of Commerce of Wesley Chapel; Former member, Board of Directors, and Treasurer, Downtown Mainstreet, City of Dade City; is on the Board of Directors for Gulfside Regional Hospice; Pasco County Fair Association; member of the RAC Board of Dade City and is a member of the Republican Party of Pasco County Executive Committee. He was a former member of the Code Enforcement Board, City of Dade City and the Citizen's Advisory Planning Board, City of Dade City;  Michael primarily serves families in the Dade City Chapel.

 

Carolyn Hodges. a Tampa, Florida native, had been a Special Education teacher in Hillsborough and Pasco County since her graduation from the University of South Florida in 1972.  In June of 2000, she joined Michael at the funeral home full time.  She and Michael are co-owners of Hodges Family Funeral Home and are members of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Dade City. Carolyn is also a member of the Dade City Women's Club and was elected to the Board of Director's of Dade City Chamber of Commerce and serves as President in 2007.  She is on the  Board of Education at the Academy at the Farm and is a member and former Secretary of the Sunrise Rotary of Dade City.  Carolyn is the General Manager of our Zephyrhills location and assists in serving families at both Dade City and Zephyrhills Chapels. Carolyn loves her family, her friends, and her dogs, but not necessarily in that order.
 
Randy Bush is a licensed Funeral Director and is a native of Dade City, graduating from Pasco High School in 1983 and Pasco Hernando Community College in 1986. He graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta where he served as President of the Phi Sigma Eta Honor Society.  He is married to Darlene Johnson Bush; They have two children, Brandon & Brianna.  The Bush's are members of the First Baptist Church in Dade City, where they have participated in the music outreach program and Wednesday evening children's programs.  They are active in the local charter schools  "parent-teacher" organization.  Randy is also a member of the Dade City Sunrise Rotary Club.  Randy is the FDIC, Funeral Director In Charge, of our Hwy 301 Chapel in Dade City, and is a co-owner of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Inc.

 

Jim Kehr is the General Manager for Hodges Family Funeral Home and has been a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for 30 years, having worked and lived in Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois, before moving to Florida.  He brings experience having worked in both small and  large family owned funeral homes, corporate owned funeral homes and having owned his own.  He is very glad to be a part of a family owned funeral home, where personal service, attention to details and receiving a good value are important part of the funeral service. He and his wife, Carolyn, have been very involved in many community and civic organizations and are members of  the Zephyrhills Nazarene Church.  They have two adult sons who live in Lawrence, Kansas and Bourbonais, Illinois.

 

 

Rachel Dowling is the daughter of Carolyn and Michael Hodges, and works as the Business Manager for the funeral homes.  Prior to joining the family business, she was a teacher at Tampa Preparatory School and coach of the school’s dance team.  She has also taught at Wharton and King High School in Tampa, and was a flight attendant for Delta Airlines.  Rachel lives in Zephyrhills with her sister Desiree, who also works at the funeral home.  Rachel is a vegetarian and has acquired a love for animals from her mother.  She has owned all types of pets in her life, but currently has 2 cocker spaniels, Jackson and Diamond, and 3 cats, Colby, Casey, and Prescott.

 

Desiree is an RN at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Courtney is a Pastry Chef at Bern's Restaurant in Tampa and Michael is currently serving in the US Navy in the Persian Gulf on an Anti-Terrorism Task Force.
